On September 27, 2010, the Small Business Jobs Act of 2010 was signed into law by President Obama. The intent of this act is to extend $12 Billion in tax cuts and create a $30 Billion Small Business Lending Fund available through healthy banks and strengthen the SBA's (Small Business Administration) core programs. On October 13, 2010, Senator Mary Landrieu wrote a letter of clarification to Department of Defense Secretary Robert Gates. The primary purpose of her letter was to clearly define the intent of the US Congress, specifically related to Section 1347 of the Act. This Section states that each of the small business entities mentioned are on equal footing for the small business set-asides. Contracting officers should not give any priority to any particular classification of small business.
We hope that you will find this information of clarification written by Senator Landrieu will assist you in the pursuit of GSA opportunities, particualrly with the Department of Defense facilities.
